Château La Tour de Mons Margaux — Bordeaux
Few Bordeaux estates can claim a history approaching one thousand years.
The origins of Château La Tour de Mons can be traced back to 1098 and the creation of the historic seigneury of Soussans.
The estate later took its name from Pierre de Mons, who acquired the property through marriage in 1623 and dedicated himself to developing its vineyards.
In 2020, Château La Tour de Mons was acquired by the Perrodo family, already owners of Château Labégorce and Château Marquis d'Alesme.
Today, La Tour de Mons combines this remarkable history with modern viticulture and winemaking, producing a pure and elegant expression of Margaux.

Tasting notes
Château La Tour de Mons is a classic Margaux with an attractive combination of fruit, elegance and structure.
The bouquet reveals ripe red and dark fruits accompanied by gentle spice and subtle notes from oak ageing.
On the palate, the wine is smooth and generous, with fine tannins, good concentration and an underlying freshness that gives it balance and precision.
Its Merlot component contributes softness and roundness, while Cabernet Sauvignon brings structure and length.
The finish is clean, elegant and persistent.
It is a remarkably versatile Bordeaux: approachable in its youth but with sufficient structure to develop further complexity in the bottle.
Food pairings
Pairs beautifully with roast beef, lamb, duck, grilled meats and traditional French dishes.
Also excellent with mushroom-based dishes and mature cheeses.
Suggested serving temperature: 16–18°C.
Vinification & Ageing
Following careful selection, the grapes are vinified in temperature-controlled stainless-steel vats with individual vineyard parcels handled separately.
The wine is then matured for approximately 12 months in French oak barrels.
The proportion of new oak is carefully managed to support the wine without overwhelming its fruit and natural elegance.
Almost 1,000 years of history
The history of Château La Tour de Mons is closely connected with the history of the Margaux region itself.
Across the estate are traces of this past, including the remains of historic buildings, a chapel and an oratory situated among the vineyards.
Yet La Tour de Mons is far from a museum.
Since the Perrodo family's acquisition in 2020, substantial work has been undertaken to prepare the vineyard for the future and further improve quality.
The result is an estate where almost a millennium of history meets a distinctly modern approach to viticulture.
A vineyard protected by nature
One of the defining characteristics of Château La Tour de Mons is its remarkable location.
The approximately 58-hectare vineyard forms a single block surrounded by dense woodland.
These woods create a natural enclosure around the vines and form an important reservoir of biodiversity.
The soils combine Garonne gravel with clay and limestone, giving the estate both drainage and water-retention capacity.
This diversity of soils is particularly valuable in producing balanced wines and adapting the vineyard to changing climatic conditions.
The estate's Merlot-led style brings a smooth, generous texture, while Cabernet Sauvignon adds structure and classic Médoc character.
Pure Margaux
La Tour de Mons is a wine built around balance rather than excess.
Its character comes from precision, purity and elegance.
The wine has enough structure and concentration to develop over time, but its smooth texture and expressive fruit also make it accessible relatively young.
This combination makes Château La Tour de Mons particularly attractive for wine drinkers discovering Margaux as well as experienced Bordeaux enthusiasts looking for quality and authenticity.
We selected
Château La Tour de Mons
because
Château La Tour de Mons offers a combination that is increasingly difficult to find in Bordeaux: extraordinary history, a substantial Margaux vineyard and a wine that remains approachable.
Its 58-hectare enclosed vineyard has a genuine identity of its own, surrounded by woodland and shaped by a combination of gravel, clay and limestone soils.
We particularly appreciate the balance of the wine.
It has the elegance and structure expected from Margaux without being unnecessarily powerful or austere.
Under the Perrodo family's ownership, substantial investment in both the vineyard and winery also gives us confidence in the future direction of the estate.
For NJORDVIK, Château La Tour de Mons represents authentic Margaux with history, elegance and excellent drinking pleasure.
